    richard-
i googled :cat with dislocated pelvis: - and your cat, aspen.
by reading the date on your blog entry, i know that his accident was a while ago; but i was hoping to get an update - as to his long term recovery. can you offer up any new-news?

my cat :temporary jones: just returned from a “missing” status to a “found and injured” status of 8 days. she was diagnosed at the vet today as having a dislocated pelvis.

i thought since you and aspen have been though this, you might be able to offer some assistance, guidance or anything you may deem useful.

so, if time permits, please reply.

Aspen recovered really well. After about a month locked in a cage, which wasn’t much fun, he was let out and he slowly recovered. He’d always been a little clumsy, and not as agile as Pixel (his smaller sister), but he now climbs trees, jumps over walls, and gets in as much trouble as before. I wouldn’t know that he had the accident.

I’m guessing that the vet has offered to do surgery. I’d take them up on it. From what our vet said, they’d put a dog down in the same situation because they’d never recover properly, but cats handle it well. That’s definately the case with Aspen. Cost a lot, but he’s still about and that matters.

    Hope that helps.

I did a google search on my name and yours came up with some interesting similarities. I too was born and lived in Perth, West Australia. My family moved to the United States in September 1976. Just thought it was weird seeing my name and the location of my birthplace the same as yours.
    Have a great one.
